Iranian border guards shot dead Afghan migrants trying to enter the country illegally from Pakistan, opening fire on them near the Seravan border crossing in Shahrestan on the night of October 13. As a result, about 250 people died. This was stated by the little-known Iranian human rights organization Haalvsh, reports Ariana News.
According to Haalvsh, two Afghans who survived the attack said that a group of about 300 migrants were trying to cross the border when they were attacked by Iranian soldiers, who fired shots, including RPGs.
“On Sunday night, dozens of Afghans were attacked by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who had previously prepared an ambush on the border, in the Kalgan-Serawan region. As a result, dozens of refugees died and dozens were injured.” – stated the organization.
There has already been a reaction to this information. Thus, the former Attorney General of Afghanistan Mohamed Farid Hamidi He called on the UN and international human rights organizations to bring those responsible for this incident to justice.
“The deliberate attack and murder of defenseless refugees constitutes a crime against humanity, a serious and inhumane crime.” – said.
Shahrestan Seravan is located in the Iranian province of Sistan and Balochistan, bordering the Panjgur district of the Pakistani province of Balochistan.
The Iranian authorities have not yet responded to these statements.
