Iran’s possible response to Israel’s attack: the opinion of an Israeli analyst

Israeli military analyst David Sharp, commenting on Operation Days of Repentance for the New Europe, expressed an opinion on Iran’s possible actions in response to the Israeli attack.

According to him, Tehran has not yet given clear signals about its intentions to respond directly, and the next steps of the Iranian side may depend on the positions and statements of its leaders.

Sharp noted that if Iran decides to retaliate, it will most likely rely on its own armed forces, although the use of allied groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas is also possible. However, the expert emphasized that given the weakening of these proxy groups, the role of Iran’s own resources becomes more significant. Iran has a sufficient arsenal of ballistic missiles and drones that it could use to retaliate against Israel.

Furthermore, according to the analyst, other possible forms of Iranian reaction cannot be ruled out, such as terrorist attacks against Israeli targets abroad or attacks against civilian targets, including tourists. However, as Sharp made clear, such actions take time to prepare and are not always a direct response to Israeli attacks.

The analyst also commented on the situation with the increasing frequency of terrorist attacks in Israel, emphasizing that these attacks are often carried out independently of Iran’s influence. While Tehran provides financial support to groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad, the attacks themselves in Israel tend to be carried out by local forces or individuals operating in the West Bank.

In the event of another attack by Iran, Sharp believes Israel will be forced to respond harshly to avoid a systematic missile confrontation. He stressed that it is unacceptable for the Israeli side to leave the last words to Iran, and the Israeli authorities may consider more radical measures to stop the threat.

Ranke “Cursor” wrote that the United States sent a message to Iran before the Israeli attack.

Iran received recommendations that outlined key “red lines.”
