The World Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) strategy to combat climate change aims to combine traditional wisdom with modern technology to promote sustainability.
The “Report” reports that the Director General of ISESCO, Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik, said this at the event “Cultivating heritage for a sustainable future: integrating agriculture, culture and climate resilience” organized within the framework of the COP29.
“Our strategy has five main components. The first is climate adaptation: the integration of agricultural knowledge in resilience to changing climate conditions. The second is biodiversity conservation: the cultivation of traditional crops and the use of traditional practices of land management to increase food security. The third is water management: it is planned to combine ancient irrigation methods with modern tools such as GIS to optimize water use and eliminate water scarcity “Protection of health. and sustainable agriculture: promoting traditional land management practices to reduce dependence on chemicals. Fifthly, sociocultural conservation, traditional knowledge and practices are planned to enrich the cultural fabric and support rural communities,” he said.
The guest added that a pilot project will be launched to explore how the strategy can be implemented in member countries: “By developing regional cooperation, we aim to share knowledge and best practices that can promote sustainable agriculture.”
