Perhaps it was unconsciousness. Maybe because he didn’t anticipate that that morning he would end up murdering someone. But the trace on the social networks of Ismail L., the 18-year-old Moroccan arrested on November 6 in Getafe for the crime of Borja Villacís, was essential to find his trace. He was hiding in a most plausible place, his mother’s house, on María Zambrano Avenue. But a confusion in the testimonies and friends of the brother of the former deputy mayor first led to the arrest of a namesake of this third defendant. Five months and two days after the shooting that occurred in a location in Monte del Pardo, Madrid Criminal Group V completed one of the most dangerous investigations in recent times.
The same day when, during a meeting in which Borja, 41 years old, went to accompany his friend David to settle some differences with Kevin P., 25 years old, they fell into a bloody ambush, the first person was captured . It was María José EJ, 52 years old and mother of Kevin, who was driving the BMW X2 in which they were both traveling to an open field next to the road and in which, we now know, Ismail was also traveling . These are the two men who, in the opinion of investigators, shot Borja and his companions with a shotgun and a rifle. One of the friends, Luis, was injured and miraculously did not die.
A necessary collaborator in the murder and the attempt, she fled while driving and was arrested two hours later at a gas station in Plaza Elíptica. Witnesses and relatives of the two victims gave the names of the armed men: Kevin and a young Moroccan whom they knew under the name “Ismael”. This was corroborated even in this environment by this newspaper of the time. The next day, the agents arrested the first in a squatted house in Yuncos (Toledo) and also chained in the same place a young relative, Ismael EIV, 24 years old, who had to be released a few hours later.
It was this last young person who gave the clue to those of the Homicide V group, explaining that they must be wrong about Ismael and that in reality they were referring to Ismail L., who had turned 18 three years ago month. which he provided physical data and a possible Arabic surname.
It is about a boy who is still studying in the Villaverde neighborhood, son of a fishmonger from Mercamadrid and who lived with his mother in Getafe, whose father, Mustapha, is divorced, although they have good relations . “My son has always been a good child. “He is studying, we knew nothing about this affair, he had not told us,” Mustapha, surprised by the accusation against him, explains to ABC. Ismail is already in jail, booked and without bail, accused of murder and attempted murder.
The Morito
To find his location, his digital footprint was essential. El Morito, as he calls himself among his friends, has an Instagram account and two Facebook accounts, although he has remained relatively inactive on them. But now, the agents asked Meta, by court order, for the telephone number associated with them. The parents appeared behind. This is how the national police, the sources in the file explain, began to search at least two houses where the young man could be hiding: one in Villaverde and another in Getafe. The “trunks” around María Zambrano Avenue, in the southern municipality, have multiplied. Surveillance which was also hampered because the suspect always left without papers; precisely for this, to avoid being discovered during a random check.
Finally, on November 6, at 7:20 p.m., this male, skinny, of bad appearance and with a record dating from his youth, was surprised by agents of the Judicial Police as he was leaving his mother’s home. A few meters away, on Isabel Allende Street, he was chained and taken to a cell. On the advice of his lawyer, he did not admit the facts with which he is accused.
The legal road ahead of us is long. Approximately two years of investigation are expected, during which there is still the possibility of further arrests.
The deadly argument that cost the lives of Villacís, the Ultras Sur and the neo-Nazis occurred because his friend David had denounced Kevin after burning his car.
