Israel announced on Thursday the greatest expansion of illegal settlements built on the territory of the Palestinian territory on the west coast, from the Oslo agreements in 1993, in which Israel promised not to establish new colonies in the Palestinian territory. Nine out of 22 announced the calculations – illegal consideration of international law – the Israeli government was again created, according to the report of the Israeli organization Mir now, which is investigated and controlled by the spread of colonies in Palestinian territory.
The decision was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense after several days of speculation in the Israeli media, although it was not officially published. Therefore, there is no accurate information about the exact location of settlements, although the world now guarantees EFE that it has checked the information available with its own sources.
Of the 22 approved calculations, 12 already existed as unauthorized enclaves or farms created in recent years and will now be legalized, according to the report.
Another, which has so far been considered a neighborhood in the framework of a major settlement, will be recognized as an independent subject. The remaining nine are completely new settlements, whose construction, according to the world, has now begun.
The world now also warns of a change in current government procedures: settlements on calculations are no longer accepted at state meetings open to the public, but in the security office, whose decisions are classified.
“In addition to an attempt to hide information and impede public criticism, this secrecy may be related to legal problems before the International Criminal Court, which opened an investigation to expand Israeli settlement as possible war crimes,” says the organization.
International law considers any settlement in the occupied territory.
In addition, in July 2024, the International Court of the UN Court – warned that Israel is obliged to repair the damage caused by occupation, to return the lands taken since 1967, to evacuate all the settlers and allow the Palestinians to return to their places of origin.
Nevertheless, Israel continues to legalize these colonies as part of its state policy. In many cases, settlers are installed on their own initiative in unstable structures protected by the army, and with guaranteed access to basic services, such as electricity and water.
Since the creation of the current government in December 2022, Israel has officially approved the creation of 49 new settlements on the western coast, according to the notes of the world.
