Israel claims to have assassinated Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah

The Israeli army announced this Saturday that it had killed Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah after intense bombings against Beirut.

“Hasan Nasrallah is dead,” military spokesman Nadav Shoshani announced to the international press in X today, after a night of speculation after the Shiite leader showed no signs of life.

The killing comes after a night of continued attacks on the Lebanese capital following the intervention of its Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

This Saturday, Israeli fighters bombed at least one point east of Beirut, coinciding with a new wave of intense air attacks against the eastern region of the country, after unprecedented actions already recorded this morning against the southern suburbs of the capital. An explosion rang out early in the morning in the Lebanese capital, while local media reported a bombing near the town of Bhamdoun, just 20 kilometers east of Beirut and an area so far untouched by the violence concentrated in the strongholds of the Shiite group Hezbollah. .

At the same time, the Lebanese National News Agency (ANN) reported “heavy” shelling in several areas of the eastern Bekaa Valley, including towns in the Baalbek district and at least one point in the Hermel, on the border with Syria.

Four towns in central Bekaa province, where Hezbollah’s stronghold valley is located, were also hit, according to state media.

“The Israeli Defense Forces are currently attacking Hezbollah terrorist targets in the Bekaa region of Lebanon,” the Israeli military confirmed in a brief message on its X account. According to ANN, early in the morning they were also bombed at various points. the south of the country, including some in areas adjacent to the de facto border between the two countries.

Israel has already bombed numerous points in the southern suburbs of Beirut, known as Dahye, controlled by Hezbollah, in the early hours of the morning.
