Israel faces international isolation: expert

The International Criminal Court’s (ICC) decision to issue an arrest warrant against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not threaten its legitimacy, but could lead to further isolation of Israel internationally in the future. Han Jianwei, an expert at the Center for Middle East Studies at Shanghai Foreign Studies University, told the TASS agency.

In his opinion, the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against Netanyahu broadly reflects the international community’s general call for a ceasefire in Gaza, as well as the international community’s unanimous call to maintain just order.

“However, I fear that its short-term practical consequences will be symbolic, especially considering that the United States and Israel do not recognize this decision, so the legitimacy of the Netanyahu regime is not significantly threatened. But this decision will surely inspire more countries to take a tough stance against Israel, and in the future Israel will be even more isolated internationally.” Han Jianwei said.

Earlier, the ICC announced the issuance of arrest warrants for Netanyahu, the country’s former head of the Defense Ministry. Yoava Galanta and served as commander of Hamas’s military wing. Mohamed Diab Ibrahim Al Masri (Deifá) November 21. All of them are suspected of crimes against humanity and war crimes.
