The Israeli army claims to have attacked the east coast of Yemen this Saturday. According to an Israeli Defense Forces statement, the fighters bombarded the Al Hodaydah and Ras Isa regions, two key areas for the Houthi regime and located more than 1,800 kilometers from Israeli territory.
The operation targeted, according to the Israeli army’s message, several “military objectives” such as a power plant and a seaport used to import and export oil. According to Israel, both infrastructures were used by the Houthis to facilitate the smuggling of weapons from Iran, among other military equipment.
“These bombings were carried out in response to recent Houthi attacks against the State of Israel,” the Israeli military says.
Dozens of aircraft participated in the operation, including fighters, aerial refueling tankers and intelligence units.
“The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are determined to continue operating, near and far, against all threats against the citizens of the State of Israel,” said the statement released by the Israeli armed forces.
