The Israeli Air Force is patrolling the area of Beirut International Airport to prevent the landing of planes that may carry weapons for the Hezbollah movement, said Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Daniel Hagari.
“Under no circumstances will we allow the transfer of weapons… to Hezbollah. We know about Iranian arms transfers… and we are preventing them. Currently, Air Force planes patrol the Beirut airport area. Until now, the Lebanese state, unlike Syria, has behaved responsibly for many years and has not allowed the transfer of weapons through a civilian airport. We declared in advance that we will not allow hostile aircraft carrying weapons to land at Beirut’s civilian airport. “This is a civil airport for civil use and it should be kept that way.” — Hagari said in a briefing.
