Israel to pay Moldova huge sum of money – details

Israel has agreed to pay Moldova a significant amount as compensation for services rendered related to ensuring the safety of Breslav Hasidim during their pilgrimage to Uman last year.

IsraelInfo writes about this.

The Israeli Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have found budget funds to settle a debt of NIS 700,000 that was accumulated due to additional security measures at the Moldovan airport during last year’s Rosh Hashanah holiday. This payment was made by the Ministry of Finance before the upcoming holiday to ensure that Moldova will again allow pilgrims to cross its territory.

The Chief Rabbi of Moldova, Rabbi Pinchas Salzman, addressed a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he asked him to also provide budgetary funding for security measures for the current year. This question has become especially relevant given that yesterday, after almost a year of communication interruption, Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky held a telephone conversation. Officially, the meeting was planned to discuss the situation in the region, but the main topic was the upcoming pilgrimage season and the difficulties associated with it.

Meanwhile, the US administration has warned its citizens against traveling to Uman ahead of the Tishrei holiday, citing the unstable security situation in the region. Despite this, representatives of the Israeli coalition continue to put pressure on Netanyahu, asking him to resolve issues related to ensuring the safety of pilgrims in Uman this year.

Previously, Cursor reported that the Hasidim nearly died during the pilgrimage to Nablus.

The Palestinian Arabs noticed the Hasid wandering around the territory of the Balata camp and attacked him and then the entire group of pilgrims.
