Israeli air force attacks central Beirut

Israel carried out an airstrike in central Beirut on Monday morning for the first time in nearly a year of conflict, the Associated Press reported.

According to the agency, the airstrike hit a multi-story residential building in Beirut’s Kola district. Videos circulating on social media show ambulances and a crowd gathering under the building.

The agency notes that the area where the strike took place is a main Sunni area with a busy street lined with shops and residential buildings.

In turn, the Israeli military said that on Sunday the country’s air force carried out strikes against dozens of targets across Lebanon, “including launchers aimed at Israeli territory, buildings in which weapons were stored, and terrorist infrastructure facilities used by Hezbollah for terrorist activities.” “Activities against the State of Israel.”
