The Israeli army killed the head of the Tulkarem North Brigade early Thursday morning. West Bank occupied – Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Mohammed Jaber Abu Shujaa and four other militiamen during an exchange of fire while they were taking refuge in a mosque, according to a military statement.
Jaber “has been involved in numerous terrorist attacks, including the shooting in which Israeli citizen Amnom Muchtar was murdered in June,” the army said.
With Wednesday’s deaths, at least 69 Palestinians have now lost their lives to Israeli fire (mostly from army fire and at least one from settlers) so far in August, the most violent month this year in the West Bank.
