Prominent American lawyer Alan Dershowitz said he is putting together a “dream legal team” to defend Israel in court cases and internationally.
He wrote about this in an article for the Wall Street Journal.
Commenting on the issuance of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Dershowitz noted that “this case will be heard in The Hague, and in the court of public opinion in both the United States and the United States. United States and around the world.”
He added that among those who have joined the project are former United States Attorneys General Michael Mukasey and William Barr, former Attorney General Seth Waxman, former FBI Director Louis Freeh and former Canadian prosecutor and Justice Minister Irwin Cotler. .
Dershowitz also emphasized that the team will not only argue that the ICC has no jurisdiction in the case, but will also demonstrate that Israel’s actions in Gaza do not violate international law.
The ICC last week issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant in the Gaza war case. This unprecedented measure put them at risk of arrest in much of the world, and is the first time that the ICC has issued arrest warrants against leaders of a democratic state.
The court also issued an arrest warrant for Hamas military leader Mohammed Deif, who Israel said was killed in an IDF attack in Gaza in July. Efforts have also been made to arrest other Hamas leaders, Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar, responsible for the October 7, 2023 massacre that sparked the ongoing war in Gaza.
Recall that Cursor wrote that the arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant undermine the legitimacy of the court and increase political pressure on Israel.
