In his speech on September 18, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant announced the beginning of a new phase of the war.

“The centre of gravity is shifting northwards. This means that we are directing forces, resources and energy further and further north,” Galant said.
“This operation is a comprehensive operation and its mission is clear and simple: to return residents of northern communities safely to their homes,” he added.
The Israel Defense Forces is reportedly moving one of its divisions, the 98th Division, from the Gaza Strip to the border with Lebanon.
