Israel’s new campaign in Lebanon: the threat of Hezbollah and the role of Iran

A plot called “Military Chronicle” was broadcast on Baku TV.

In the plot, the presenter, author and military journalist Fardin Isazade spoke about the current situation in the Middle East, that is, Israel’s military campaign in southern Lebanon.

He said this is the second military campaign carried out by Israel in the last year.

After Hamas attacks on Israel last year, Tel Aviv launched large-scale operations in the Gaza region and achieved several objectives:

“The first is threat neutralization, meaning that Israel has to some extent neutralized Hamas’s military infrastructure, including missile sites, tunnels and command centers. Second, it is a show of force, showing others forces operating in the region Israel’s military power and ability to respond to threats Third, the elimination of leaders: during the operations in Gaza, the organization was weakened by the assassination of top commanders. Hamas and the head of the organization’s political bureau in Tehran, Ismail Haniyeh.

The journalist pointed out that today Israel considers its operation in southern Lebanon limited:

An analysis of Hezbollah’s past operations suggests that the organization will not give up without a fight and is ready for a long-term conflict. The death of Hassan Nasrullah can only weaken Hezbollah at this stage. Of course, this fact gives Israel a temporary advantage.”

It was added that Israel has a way to eliminate the threat of “Hezbollah” and reduce Iran’s influence in the region: to expand the zone of ground operations to the territories of Lebanon and Syria.

“This may create opportunities to cut off Hezbollah’s weapons supply routes to Israel and hinder the realization of the Shiite crescent project. However, such a development of events is a threat to regional countries and global powers. : Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt”, Russia, the United States and others can lead to the intervention of interested parties in the conflict. This, in turn, means a large-scale regional war with uncertain results,” the journalist stressed.
