The mayor of Seville, Jose Luis Sanzannounced that it would join Valencia City Hall in appealing the Catalan quota before the Constitutional Court.
The first mayor stressed that the city would leave “very damaged” if this financing system is confirmed for Catalonia
“If the Catalan quota and the Government of Pedro Sánchez decides to harm the autonomous communities, for the benefit of the Catalan community, the Seville City Council will join Valencia’s initiative to appeal the Catalan quota”, he announced.
The mayor insisted, as he has repeated on other occasions, that Spanish municipalities are “underfunded”.
“We talk a lot about regional funding, but location has not been resolved. The Catalan quota would be the final straw for the town halls of the Spanish capitals,” he added.
The mayor announced this measure in the Sevilla Est district, where one of the suburban stations of the Seville capital is located. To improve this service, she proposed five measures to the Ministry of Transport, which she intends to implement Congress of Deputies.
In this sense, Sanz regretted the lack of progress in these infrastructures compared to Catalonia.
“The Sants station is being renovated and a new one is being built in Barcelona. investments in Catalonia are constant,” recalled the mayor.
Likewise, Sanz insisted on the lack of attention of the Minister of Transport, Oscar Puenteto whom he sent numerous unanswered letters. “It seems he has little interest in Sevilla but we will continue to complain to him,” he warned.
For his part, regarding the initiative to appeal the Catalan quota, he clarified that there were delays. “We must first wait for the quota to become a reality and then we will have to study this resource that several municipalities must provide. It cannot be only Seville and Valencia”, he concluded.
