The Japanese government has decided to strengthen sanctions against Russia and the DPRK in connection with the development of their cooperation, NHK television channel reports.
Currently, Japan has already imposed a series of sanctions against North Korea and Russia: restrictions on imports and exports, as well as asset freezes.
Now the government is discussing, in particular, extending the freeze on the assets of both states. The country’s authorities defend this decision by arguing that military cooperation between North Korea and Russia has a serious impact on peace and security in Europe and violates international law.
The main reason for this is the sending of North Korean troops to the special military operations zone. This was previously stated by the United States Department of State, where they said that more than 10 thousand North Korean soldiers arrived in eastern Russia, most of whom were transferred to Kursk.
Neither Moscow nor Pyongyang confirmed the data on the transfer of troops. In early November, North Korea’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the provision of military assistance to Russia in the Ukraine conflict, without specifying to what extent the DPRK authorities are specifically assisting the Russian military.
