Japan will begin regular deployments of the Rapid Deployment Amphibious Brigade, an elite unit of the Japan Self-Defense Forces Marine Corps, to Australia, Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles said.
“Today we announced that we will begin regular deployments of the Japanese Rapid Deployment Amphibious Brigade to Australia. And this will be particularly important for the collaboration with the Australian Defense Forces and the United States Marines when they are here as part of the Marine Corps rotation. This will help create interaction between our three countries.” – Marles said at a briefing after a trilateral meeting with the defense ministers of the United States and Japan.
The briefing was broadcast by the United States Department of Defense.
