For reference, Shigeru Ishiba was born on February 4, 1957 and is a famous Japanese politician. He assumed the leadership of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on September 27, 2024 and was appointed Prime Minister of the country on October 1, 2024.
Until 2011 he was part of the LDP faction called Heisei-Kenkyukai, led by Fukushiro Nukaga. Ishiba previously served as Minister of Defense and Minister of Agriculture. From 2012 to 2014 he was Secretary General of the PLD. In the 2024 party president election, Shigeru Ishiba won the runoff over Sanae Takaichi, presenting himself as a more moderate candidate.
