Donald Trump says he “never considered” repealing the Affordable Care Act. However, this was the case during his presidency.

Donald Trump on Thursday questioned Vice President Kamala Harris’ claim that she wanted to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), saying in “It is never talked about, it is not even considered” to do it. What’s up with that?

Upon entering the White House in January 2017, Donald Trump signed an executive order against the Obamacare health insurance law, which he had promised to repeal during his campaign, denouncing a “horrible thing”, “totally disastrous”. The text ordered the different federal agencies “relieve weight” of this reform, the most emblematic of Barack Obama’s presidency, pending its repeal and replacement.

The Republican plan, as described at the time by House Speaker Paul Ryan, was to eliminate the insurance requirement, in the name of freedom of choice; eliminate income conditions for receiving aid; and group patients “at risk” in insurance groups subsidized by the States, in order to disengage the federal State.

In June 2020, the Trump administration also asked the Supreme Court to invalidate the law, in a case brought by more than a dozen states. But the High Court refused.

During this 2024 campaign, Donald Trump has gone back and forth on his position on the ACA. On occasions he has declared that he wants to replace the law with a ” alternative “He declared on occasions that he would not repeal it.

In March, Donald Trump wrote in Truth Social that he was not “He is not a candidate to finish” to the Affordable Care Act, but I wanted to improve it and make it “more economical.” On September 10, during the presidential debate with Mr.me Harris, Mr. Trump said he had “planning concepts” to replace the law.
