According to “Report”, this was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, in the general debate of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly on the topic “Leaving no one behind: acting together for peace, sustainable development and the development of human dignity for present and future generations.”
The Minister provided detailed information to the representatives of Member States on the activities, priorities and initiatives of the Azerbaijan presidency at COP29. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Azerbaijan supports the objectives defined by 14 main initiatives and declarations during the COP29 presidency, in addition to focusing on providing appropriate tools to achieve them:
“In November 2024, Azerbaijan will host the COP29 conference, guided by solidarity in the fight against climate change. Azerbaijan will spare no efforts to build a bridge between developed and developing countries and promote the spirit of cooperation in the fight against climate change. climate change, organizing COP29 this year and the general commitment and moral confidence that the international community shows us to make a decision is proof and recognition of Azerbaijan’s readiness to respond to the climate agenda and contribute to global climate action. reaffirms our vision to raise ambition and enable action with climate finance as our top priority this year.
“The main expectation is an agreement on a new collective, quantified, fair and ambitious target for climate finance. This will be the first major climate finance target after the adoption of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, and we are working tirelessly to reach an agreement with the parties,” he stressed.
