Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov participated and spoke at the informal ministerial dialogue dedicated to the New Collective Quantitative Target for Climate Finance organized within the framework of our presidency of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

It was reported that Mukhtar Babayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President of COP29, and Simon Steele, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, also participated and spoke in the ministerial dialogue. In parallel, the event was attended by high-level representatives from several countries, as well as members of the COP29 negotiating groups.

In his speech, Jeyhun Bayramov spoke in detail about the activities, priorities and initiatives of the Azerbaijan presidency at COP29, as well as the negotiation process towards agreeing on the New Collective Quantitative Target for Climate Finance.

It was highlighted that our country works closely with all stakeholders in the process within the framework of inclusion and cooperation during the negotiation process carried out within the framework of our COP29 presidency. Taking into account the importance of attracting financial resources for the fight against climate change, the importance of mobilizing all resources with the participation of the private sector as well as multilateral financial institutions and supporting the efforts of the Global South to fight against climate change was highlighted. climate change. he emphasized.

Noting that the agreement on the new collective quantitative target for climate finance is one of the most important elements of the process, Jeyhun Bayramov called on all parties participating in the negotiations in this regard to adopt a constructive position and mobilize efforts to combat the threat of climate change facing humanity.

It was stated that our COP29 presidency focuses on supporting the objectives defined by 14 main initiatives and declarations, as well as providing appropriate tools to achieve them. It was highlighted that our approach to supporting climate-based development takes special account of the most vulnerable groups.
