Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov participated and spoke at the high-level roundtable on “Climate Finance” organized within the framework of the Global Leaders Summit on Climate Action of the 29th session of the United Nations Framework Convention United Nations on Climate Change (COP29).

It was reported that the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadir Japarov, and other high-level representatives, including representatives of financial institutions international investors and financial specialists. , also participated in the round tables.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, speaking on behalf of the COP29 Presidency of Azerbaijan at the round tables, provided detailed information on the priorities of the COP29 Presidency, especially the activities of the Azerbaijan Presidency in leading the transformation of the climate finance agenda.
In different regions of the world, in Pakistan in 2022, as well as recently in the Caribbean, India, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Chad, Spain, etc., where eliminating the negative effects and consequences of climate change requires multilateral solutions and an inclusive process. . It was noted that there is a need to find adequate solutions to disasters such as deadly floods in the regions.
The importance of the historic agreement on the creation of the Loss and Damage Response Fund, reached in Sharm el-Sheikh and coinciding with Pakistan’s presidency of the G-77, to eliminate the consequences of this type of disasters related to climate change, was emphasized.
It was noted that our COP29 presidency aims to raise ambitions and increase activity in the fight against climate change, which increases the risks of natural disasters and threatens human life and global economic stability. In this sense, the importance of eliminating the existing gap in the field of climate financing and creating transparent and accessible mechanisms in accordance with the needs of developing countries, as well as attracting financial resources, was highlighted.
It was emphasized that COP29 held in Baku with the call for “Solidarity for a Green World” is an important opportunity in terms of transforming the climate finance agenda, and hope was expressed for the success of COP29 in this direction.
