The fact that the most important leisure event in the world decided to open a branch in Europe attracted our attention. That this party celebrates in Malaga is terribly excited to us. But now, when we begin to get to know a little a little in what form the event takes, we are pulling ourselves from the hair of euphoria and impatience. Please come as soon as possible on Thursday, September 25, the doors of the Palace of Fair and Congresses Malaga Open, and we can enjoy all the popes that will wait for us.

It cannot be less. For the first time, San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) is officially expanding outside the United States. And they will not be allowed to organize an event that does not depend on this. At the moment, it was at the level of education, where we were able to find out the first achievements. And they could not be more exciting.

Declared names and curator of the contents of the illustration of the whole event. Barcelona óscar giménez. A guy with a long career is both on one side of the Enlightenment and the other with which we were able to chat, and this advanced some keys to this expected jump from SDCC to Malaga.

“Ally Alley” Malaga and much more

What can we expect from San Diego Comic-Conda de Malag? What will it look from San Diego? And what distinguishes from her from her?

Óscar giménez: We want the SDCC Málaga to be much larger than the comic Convention, not forgetting that its soul is a comic and that most is the vertebra. We know that we have a name related to the festival model full of history and with our own identity. Despite this, we cannot -we want to strive for where we are, who we are and our history and culture. “Malaga” at the end of the heading is what distinguishes us, and what adds a local, national and European approach, which will be reflected in the contents and the current talent.

Part of the illustrators, which is the one that your police station is usually a strong point in the dignity of Diego. What is the plan in Malaga? Will it also be located at the end of the fair as a mythical “artist -shoulder” of San Diego?

OG: So -Saled ‘Artist Alley’ will have its presence and fame at the festival. This type of spaces in conventions, such as SDCC, has always fascinated me, since this is a unique opportunity to turn to the authors and establish a creative dialogue. And I call this intentionally a dialogue, because we must understand that the magic of these meetings is that it works in both directions, and we want this to be enriching and exciting experience for everyone.

Also note that the choice of authors will be diverse and that they will be selected to have the representativeness of styles and sensitivity. The idea is to offer living, multiple space, where talent and public connection prevail. In addition, there will be programming panels, signatures, master classes and seminars in different places at the Convention.

San Diego Comic-Con Málaga was born with a lot of calling Peliculera or Comicquera? Since the SDCC began as a place where comics breathed, and then, with an explosion of films universal, they covered more genres. Do you want to restore this original aroma or times, what is and should be adapted?

OG: We want a real balance. We were born with deep respect for the comic book as a language, as an industry and as a community. But we also know that today everything is connected: a comic book nourishes cinema, comic book animation, video games adapting their narrative structures. We are not going to take anything, but we want the comic book to be in the center and be an engine. The initial spirit of San Diego is still very alive, and we want to bring this energy here.

What we already know

Let’s talk about what can already be calculated. Malaga will come to Jim Lee, President of DC Entertainment and one of the most influential caricaturists of the last decades in the world of comics. What assumes that you, in order to deliver the editor -in -chief of one of the American comics, to Messi Vignetki?

OG: This is a great pride and thank you very much. Since, as I have already commented, although this festival is supplied with the heading, we feel as if we started from scratch, and all that we are working on, the efforts that we are doing, and the results that we receive, seem to be a gift. And Jim Lee, no doubt, is one of those gifts that we could only wish for a few months ago.

What does this mean for you, an illustrator and an expert in these stories, knowing communication with such strong people as reading?

OG: My fan side should sometimes control. Imagine that come to someone and say to him “part of what I am, thanks to you.” This is what I did in the past. I should write this almost as much and remember when I said that.

Such artists, like, are part of our culture, and that many of them are not aware of the influence that they can have on a certain life, this makes it even more exciting and even more humane. Now that I am much closer to them, I try to listen, understand and study and, from my position, to convey that the first thing that moves me in this project is a passion and a desire to live the best experience.

In SDCC Malaga, we want to give him a place to share our experience and his art, and we are sure that it will do it generous and relatives.

The second declared name is somewhat less known, but extremely interesting. Why did you love Pich Momoko in Malaga? How to explain who does not know Momoko who he is?

Peach Momoko is one of those names that I had clear from the very beginning. He is a unique artist, with his own and recognizable universe, a mixture of Japanese tradition and modern narrative. Let’s think that he visually revised a lot of Mific Marvel characters and that he developed his own imaginary, the so -called momocard with complete creative freedom. In addition, he works with traditional methods such as watercolors and ink, which gives his work even more special significance. Persian Momoko is an art, identity and merging.

Preparation

Is it more difficult to attract international talent to Malaga?

This is a constant balance of balance between the approach of the program and the infinity of professional agendas and circumstances. But the international answer is very positive. Many creators want to come, and this is a sign that the project is of interest and trust. This is a long project, and we have that each edition will differ from the previous one, and that we can gradually adapt as many talents as possible.

Speaking about this … how is preparation? I understand that an intense summer awaits you …

We are only at the point of boiling, at which everything begins to take shape. Of course, this will be intense, but also very exciting. For such a lot of work, this is not visible, many daily solutions and a lot of coordination. But every time we confirm the artist, we close the panel or imagine that the audience will live in September, we identify a smile on the face, and then we understand that every nested minute costs that.

Who is óscar giménez

How do you get to Cuister with these dimensions? What was the route of Oscar Himenses to get here?

If I really look back and open the window into the past, from it I will see teenage óSCAR, drawing vignettes in their room to spread their friends the next day in the classroom. It all started there. Over the years, despite the fact that I first struggled with the contradiction, thinking that the artist’s life would be too complicated (I did not miss the mind), I eventually devoted myself to enlightenment and developed the race for 16 years.

After this period and the search for changes, I went to work in a housewood, an online platform of creative courses, where I took on the role of the curator in the category of illustrations and comics. There I began to contact artists from around the world and found that I was fascinated by the fact that I was on the other side, being a person who was dealing with the creators and helped them transfer their work to other formats in connection with the public. After this stage, it became possible to become part of the San Diego team Comic-Con Málaga.

Now I feel that everything that I found out, and everything that I lived in the profession from different points of view, converges here, today, and, by fate, or luck, I am very grateful for the fact that I can live and take responsibility.
