John Ashton, actor of ‘Dallas’ and ‘Hollywood Detective,’ dies at 76

American actor John Ashtonknown for his supporting actor roles in the film franchise ‘Beverly Hills Cop‘(Super Detective in Hollywood), died in 76 years oldreported The Hollywood Reporter. Ashton played Sgt. Detective John Taggart in several parts of the film series directed by Eddie Murphy and died last Thursday in Fort Collins, Colorado, after a brief fight against cancerher rep, Alan Somers, told The Hollywood Reporter (THR).

Detective Sergeant Ashton Taggart appeared in the first two films of ‘Beverly Hills Cop‘ in 1984 and 1987 with Eddie Murphy And Judge Reinhold. He returned as the character, now promoted to chief of police, in ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.’ (“Superdetective in Hollywood: Axel F.”), dating from 2024, recalls the specialized media.

Ashton too appeared in films and television shows which lasted more than half a century, including ‘An eye for an eye‘(‘Psycho mortal’), 1973, ‘So mean, my sister‘(‘Fatal accident’) 1974,’Murkil Cat and the Silks» (“Eddie the Cat”) from 1976, “Borderline” (“20 Miles from Justice”) from 1980 and “Honky Tonk Highway (“Freeway Rampage”) from 1981, says THR.

The actor has also appeared in iconic television series such as ‘Columbo‘, ‘Police Story’, ‘Barnaby Jones’ and ‘M*A*S*H’, and for one season, between 1978 and 1979, he played Willie Jo Garr In ‘Dallas‘.
