Juan Carlos, I was grateful that Armada didn’t say “a word” after 23F and distanced himself from Fernández Campo for “giving up”

King Emeritus Juan Carlos I celebrated that Alfonso Armada, one of those convicted for his participation in the attempted coup d’état of February 23, 1981, did not say “not a word” about the monarch after his brief prison stay – Although he was sentenced to 30 years in prison in 1988, he was pardoned by the socialist government for his role in the attempted coup. Instead, he showed his distrust towards the head of the Royal House between 1990 and 1993, Sabino Fernández Campo, whom he accused of “talking” about his life.

Both reflections are part of one of the telephone conversations between Juan Carlos I and his alleged lover Bárbara Rey, revealed this Thursday by OK Diario. “On my word of honor, I laugh, darling, at Alfonso Armada. He spent seven years in prison, he went to his mansion in Galicia and his uncle never said a word. Never! On the other hand, this other one is leaving,” declared the King Emeritus to the starlet.

“He says that I managed to turn the queen against him,” adds the monarch during another moment of the conversation, in which he details to the king his feeling of distrust towards the one who was the supreme head of his own institution . “After he left, he said that I had led her to be against him,” he added, in a conversation that would have taken place in the 90s and after the departure of Fernández Campo from the Royal House, in 1993.

Then, Juan Carlos I accused Fernández Campo of inventing “things with journalists from private life, from economic life, from such a life…” “Wow, the things he says! (…) There are meetings where they criticize me and talk about me… and about my life and things… and so… They invent and so and, then, he is present and, instead of cutting off, he says : ‘Well, if I spoke, if I said… But, of course, since I cannot speak because of my loyalty, because of my years in the House…'”, adds the emeritus in this conversation.

In another recorded call this Thursday publishes the aforementioned newspaperJuan Carlos I and Bárbara Rey address the issue of the disappearance of the former director general of the Civil Guard Luis Roldán who, due to the content of the conversation, was still fleeing Spain, which happened between 1994 and 1995 , after being prosecuted for having used funds reserved for his personal enrichment. Ultimately, Roldán was sentenced to 28 years in prison for embezzlement, corruption, tax evasion and fraud, a sentence which was later extended to 31 years in prison by the Supreme Court.

“I hope they find it,” Juan Carlos I told Bárbara Rey during this conversation. Later, however, the monarch clarified: “Even if between you and me, the Civil Guard says it is better that they do not find him. Better to find him dead. Roldán was finally arrested on February 27, 1995 at the airport in Bangkok, Thailand, and remained in prison until 2005.
