The Andalusian delegation to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29), which is being held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, formalized the first of the agreements: Andalusia will permanently host the World Reuse Congress of the International Association of Desalination and Water Reuse.
The agreement signed by the Andalusian President, Juanma Moreno, with the Secretary General of IDRA for Europe, Shannon McCarthy, stipulates that Seville will be the city that will host this international event which will be consolidated by meetings every two years.
IDRA is a non-profit entity associated with the UN that provides services in more than 60 countries and through 15 affiliated and associated organizations, and which It is made up of scientists, professionals, engineers, consultants and researchers. private companies and universities, among others.
“Andalusia is a region with clear and unique watersparticularly sensitive to the consequences of the climate crisis and in which climate change modifies this community’s relationship to water by default, with longer and more extreme periods of drought, and by excess, with phenomena like the recent DANA” , as explained by the Junta de Andalucía.
