New York State Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan decided this Friday delay sentencing of the New York criminal trial of President-elect Donald Trump, in which he has already been convicted of 34 crimes for improper payments to buy the silence of the porn actress Stormy Daniels.
The sentence scheduled for next Tuesday, November 26 was ultimately delayed by the judge, without however giving any indication of a possible new date.
The delay comes after prosecutors in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office this week asked Merchan to will consider postponing all proceedings in the case until Trump 78 years old, finish his term four-year presidential election which will begin on January 20.
The judge also allowed Trump’s defense to file a motion to dismiss the case and set a schedule for reporting during the month of December.
The first date is December 2, when Trump’s defense must present its arguments. arguments for dismissalthen it will be the turn of the prosecution, which excludes rejecting the sentence but is open to postponing it while Trump is at the head of the American presidency.
