The judge sent the man accused of amputating his wife’s hand to provisional prison on Friday at the beginning of the week and decided to grant the mother sole custody of the couple’s daughters.
The man who allegedly amputated his partner’s hand this Monday in Santa Coloma de Gramenet surrendered on Tuesday to the Mossos d’Esquadra police station in Barcelona and was brought to court this Friday. The prisoner attacked the woman with a machete and cut off her hand, in addition to causing injuries to her lungs. There was no criminal record of abuse in the couple. The victim is recovering from her injuries in hospital.
As reported by the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), the president of the court number 6 of Santa Coloma de Gramenet sent him to preventive detention after his appearance.
