Another of Daniel Medvedev. New show from the Russian who was once again victim of the mental weakness which torments him in the difficult moments of the match. He fell in his early days into the Nitto ATP Finals with a view to Taylor Fritz by 6-4 and 6-3 during a meeting that lasted just under an hour and a half.
However, the American victory took a back seat after the ‘anger‘with Medvedev when the game was about to end. With 2-4 against, Daniil started to try juggle with the racket and as a last step, he decided to pretend that he was going to subtract Fritz’s service with the racket handle.
It is understood that this may have been an attempt to deceive the Americans, but it only served to demonstrate that Medvedev is still a prisoner of his mental weakness. Daniel too threw two rackets offside in reaction to points which had not fallen on his side.
The Russian ended up explaining what happened on the track at a press conference, in his own way: “I was frustrated with myself and the game was already over for me. Three double faults in a row? I think I’ve already done them with Popyrin at Paris-Bercy. I have a minimum and maybe a maximum of two games left here in Turin. If I continue well and Otherwise I will go on vacation and I will be happy too“.
