Liputan6.com, jakarta – July 12, 1962 became an important milestone in the history of world music. On that day, the group, which was known as Rolling Stonez, first went on stage at the Marquee club, Oxford -Stest, London. Involuntarily, that night it was the beginning of a long journey of one of the most influential groups in the history of rock.
Quote UDISCOVER MUSICFriday (7/7/2025), this show is not part of a large plan. Initially, Blues Incorporated – the head of the group Alexis Cornner – every Thursday in Marquee regularly engaged in performance. However, since the invitation appeared in the BBC Radio Jazz Club program, the angle should be absent. The manager of Marquee Club, Harold Pendleton, was not pleased with this decision and threatened to withdraw the constant corner slot.
To fill the void, Cornner asked several young musicians – Mika Jagger, Keit Richards, Brian Jones, Jan Stewart and Dick Taylor – replace him. They accepted the challenge and made the name “The Rollin ‘Stones”, which was still not the final letter at that time.
The initial formation that appeared that night: Mick Jagger (vocals), Kit Richards and Elmo Lewis Peresa. Brian Jones (Guitar), Dick Taylor (Bas), Jan Stewart (Piano) and a drummer whose personality is uncertain. Mick Avory, who was supposed to fill the position of the drum, was not present that night.
Despite the fact that there is no complete documentation, handwritten network sheets show that they play blues songs from musicians such as Jimmy Reed, Elmore James, Chuck Berry and Fats Domino. Some of them – Kansas -City, dusty of my broom, profess blues and bright lights, a large city – duplicating strong musical roots from R&B genres and American blues.
