June 28, 1981: Hafte Tir bombing, 73 leading politicians killed at the headquarters of Iran

The goal of the attack was a member of the Islamic Republic of Indonesia (IRP), an outstanding political party in Iran, which held a meeting at the party’s head office in Tehran.

Based on the date of the Iranian calendar (7 TIR), the Hafte Tir bombardment was one of the series of terrorist attacks of the Mojahedin-E Khalq (MKO) terrorist groups, which were known for their cruel and foreign supporters.

The goal is to destroy the Islamic Republic immediately after the Islamic Revolution as a result of a brutal terrorist campaign against political parties and leading politicians.

A terrorist attack led to the death of 73 politicians and outstanding Iranian officials, including Ayatolla Bechet, one of the leaders and Ulam, influential and revolutionary during the Islamic Revolution and one of the Iranian constitutional designers.

Ayatollah Bocheshti served as a member of the Council of the Islamic Revolution, the leader of the Islamic Republic of Party and the head of state justice.

In addition to Ayatollah Bocheshti, 72 other people, including four minister, several deputy ministers, 27 members of the Parliament and a group of members of the Islamic Republic of Indonesia, were also killed.

Four members of the office that were killed were the Minister of Energy of Hassan Abbapur, Welfare Minister Mohammed Ali Fayazbakhsh, Minister of Road and Transport of Musa Kalantari and Minister of Telecommunications Mahmud Kandy.

Mohammad Montazeri, Mohammad Ali Haydari, Seyed Reza Paknidzhad, Golahamhossey Khakkani and Abol Hamid Dayalmeh were among other prominent IRP members who were killed in the attack.

At least 28 other people were injured.

To some other people, such as Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Mohammad-Javad Bahonar, Mohammad-Ali Raja and Behad Nabawa, was lucky to survive without injuries because they were not in place or left the building a few minutes before the attack.
