Kamal Kishore: “Countries have capacities for disaster risk management at different levels”

“In addition to predicting the impact of climate on the environment, early warning systems should also serve to take preventive measures to reduce losses.”

Oku.Az This was reported by Kamal Kishore, special representative of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, at the event on “Strengthening climate information and multi-hazard early warning systems to increase resilience”, held within the framework of the COP29.

He noted that all countries have different levels of disaster risk management capabilities:

“To achieve a successful outcome in this matter, we must mobilize all our efforts and continue investing in improving early warning systems.

There are still many countries where investments in early warning systems need to be directed. This is not a problem that can be solved once and for all, it must be continuous and improved.

“We should not hesitate to take a serious look at every incident related to climate change and learn how early warning systems work and how they can be improved.”
