Kamala Harris announces she is working to secure a second debate with Donald Trump

Democratic White House candidate Kamala Harris said Friday she is trying to get a second face to face with his Republican rival Donald Trump in this year’s presidential race, Harris said Friday.

“I’m trying to have another debate. We’ll see,” the US vice president told about 600 people at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Harris and Trump first debated on September 10, in a face-off in which analysts and media outlets agreed that the Democrat had won over her rival.

According to a survey published this Thursday by The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer And College of SienaThe vice president debated better than the former president, but the race for the White House remains tied, according to a survey published this Thursday.

Harris impressed voters in her debate with Trump, even though has not yet managed to gain a decisive advantage in the presidential campaign.

The vice president received much more positive evaluations for her performance in last week’s debate than Trump did: 67% of voters surveyed rated the Democrat as having done well, while 40% praised the mogul’s performance.

Additionally, majorities of voters across all racial groups, ages and education levels — including white voters without a college education, who tend to be the demographic most loyal to Trump — gave Harris a positive rating.

However, the questionnaires show that the share of voters who said they wanted to know more about Harris was nearly identical before and after the debate, suggesting she may have missed an opportunity to answer questions or provide more details at the debate.

National equality but Harris advantage in Pennsylvania

The race remains tied nationally, as the survey, conducted almost entirely before the second assassination attempt on the Republican candidate last Sunday, puts Trump and Harris tied at 47 percent, and the data coincides, with some variation, with other recent surveys.

However, in Pennsylvania, one of the key states in this election, Harris leads by four percentage points, as the Democrat won the support of 50% of those polled and her opponent 46%.

The surveys were conducted in Spanish or English by telephone among 2,437 potential voters between September 11 and 16.

The margin of sampling error for the national survey among likely voters is plus or minus 3 percentage points. While the margin of error for the Pennsylvania poll among likely voters is plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
