Kamala Harris lashes out at Fox when accused of not taking care of border: ‘Can I finish?’

Vice President Kamala Harris became angry on Wednesday during an interview with Fox News host Bret Baier when he accused her of failing to protect the southern border: “Can I finish?” Kamala Harris asked Baier, who began the interview with a question about immigration: How many illegal immigrants have crossed the southern border under the Biden administration? Harris avoided answering and acknowledged that immigration was “a topic of discussion that people rightly want to have”. Baier then intervened to point out that around six million people had crossed the border illegally. The interview was recorded in Pennsylvania, a key state among the undecided in these presidential elections, and broadcast on the Fox channel this Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. (12:00 a.m. in Spain). It lasted 30 minutes. But the journalist had to interrupt abruptly, as he later said: “There were four people [del equipo Harris] waving at me, “You need to stop!” Baier admitted when Democrats saw how angry Harris was and raised their voices against him.

Kamala Harris, reluctant to do television interviews, chose to do this one on Fox to gain middle-class support in swing states (Swing States). Trump leads in the polling average for these states (Arizona, Snowfall, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin And Pennsylvania), who are the ones who have the key of these presidential elections.

Following, Baier asked Harris about the Biden administration’s decision to end a Trump-era policy that required asylum seekers to stay in Mexico.. Harris then pointed out that the first legislative proposal introduced by President Joe Biden was an immigration bill. Instead, Baier emphasized that it was never brought up for a vote, even though Democrats controlled the House and Senate. That’s when he got angry: “Can I finish?” The conversation is reproduced below:

Bret Baier:
How many illegal immigrants do you think your administration has released over the last three and a half years?

Kamala Harris:
I’m glad you brought up the issue of immigration, because I agree with you that it’s an issue that needs to be discussed.

Bret Baier:
Yes, but tell me a number: do you think it’s a million, three million?

Kamala Harris:
Bret, let’s talk about the important issue which is that we have a broken system, which needs to be fixed.

Bret Braier:
You said that 85% of arrests… That six million people were released. I’m going to finish. I’ll ask you the question, I promise.

Kamala Harris:
I started to answer.

Bret Baier:
When you took office, your administration immediately reversed a series of Trump’s border policies. Most importantly, the policy that required illegal immigrants to be detained through deportation, whether in the United States or Mexico. You have changed this policy. They were released pending trial. Instead, among them were large numbers of single men, grown men, who went on to commit heinous crimes. So, looking back, do you regret the decision to stay in Mexico at the start of your term?

Kamala Harris:
At the start of our administration, practically within hours of being sworn in. The first bill we introduced in Congress before we worked on the Infrastructure Act, before the Inflation Reduction Act, before the Chips and Science Act, before the Bipartisan Data Security Act communities, the first bill, practically within hours of being sworn in, was a bill to fix our immigration system…

Bret Baier:
Yes, ma’am. It was called the American Citizenship Act of 2021.

Kamala Harris:
It was essentially a path to citizenship for… Can I finish, please?

Bret Baier:
Yes, ma’am.

Kamala Harris:
Can I finish answering please? But you have to let me finish, please.

Bret Baier:
If the White House, the House of Representatives and the Senate had not introduced this bill.

Kamala Harris:
I am responding to your point of view.

Afterwards, Harris chose to attack former President Donald Trump for opposing a bipartisan border security proposal earlier this year, saying her opponent “I’d rather campaign on an issue than solve it, and in this election, that’s rightly a debate the American people want to have.” Harris also attacked him after being asked about Biden’s cognitive decline: “I think Trump is not stable”he replied.

He also attacked Trump later after Baier highlighted the cases of Rachel Nungaray, Laken Riley and Rachel Morin, women who were murdered by men who entered the country illegally: “Do you owe these families an apology? “These are tragic cases. There is no doubt about it. There is no doubt about it. “And I can’t imagine the pain these victims’ families felt for a loss that should not have happened.”said Harris, who did not show any kind of empathy during the tense interview she had with the Fox reporter.
