Katiana Vicens, first female general secretary of the CCOO union in the Balearic Islands, has died

Katiana Vicens Guillén (Palma 1971), the first female general secretary of the CCOO union in the Balearic Islands between 2009 and 2015, died in the early hours of this Saturday, after a long illness.

This was reported the same day by CCOO of the Balearic Islands through a statement in which they described Katiana Vicens as “a person always engaged in the fight for rights of the working class and, above all, for those of women.

Furthermore, they assured that those who were by her side will always remember her as a person of “unbreakable values” and “totally dedicated to the responsibilities she exercised in the various positions she held within the union.”

She was first chosen to lead the union in March 2009, replacing Joseph Benedicto.

On January 25, 2013, she was re-elected by her colleagues during the 10th CCOO Confederal Congress.

The CCOO Baleares Trade Union Confederation wanted to associate itself with the pain of family and friends for the loss of “a great person and a clear reference in the fight for the well-being and dignity of the workers of our community “.

In this sense, and in his memory, the next Monday, October 14, at 12:30 p.m., A minute of silence will be observed at the gates of CCOO headquarters in Palma.
