Kazakh banks will block transactions if they see signs of a violation of anti-Russian sanctions. This was reported by the Central Securities Depository of Kazakhstan (CSD).
The message states that these measures will be taken “in order to minimize the risks inherent in the activities of the central depository, possible due to non-compliance with the requirements of the OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury). ), accounting organizations and/or service banks when they establish special requirements, restrictions and/or conditions that have a direct impact on the activities of the central depository.”
The DCV added that a transaction may be rejected if there is a likelihood that any of the risks inherent to the activities of the central depository, which were identified by its employees as part of the internal control procedures, will materialize.
