Kazakhstan plans to double its engineering production by 2028. This was announced by the Minister of Industry of the Republic, Kanat Sharlapaev, at a government meeting, zakon.kz reports.
According to him, the mechanical industry of Kazakhstan occupies one of the leading positions in the manufacturing industry with a share of almost 20%.
“There are around 4,000 companies in the sector, employing more than 120,000 people.” – said Sharlapaev.
He added that the creation of one job in the industry stimulates the creation of between 7 and 8 jobs in related industries.
“During the nine months of 2024, the industry attracted about 124 billion tenge in investments (a two-fold increase). “The production volume amounted to more than 3 trillion tenge, the physical volume index was 104.2%.” – Sharlapaev cited statistical data.
The minister explained that in the structure of machine construction the largest part is occupied by automotive, railway and electrical engineering.
He recalled the completion of the construction in Kazakhstan of a plant for the production of Chinese cars CHANGAN, HAVAL, CHERY whose production is based entirely on the assembly of small units, with a capacity of 90 thousand units.
“The construction of a plant for the production of KIA cars is underway. The investment amount is $200 million. “A project has been launched for the production of Geely, Exeed and KAIYI passenger cars worth $150 million.” – concluded Sharlapaev.
