The Ministries of Energy of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan have prepared a draft agreement on the supply of electricity to Kazakhstan generated by the Rogun hydroelectric power station in Tajikistan. This was reported by Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the document, the planned electricity transmission will be carried out through interstate power lines, taking into account the technical transit capabilities of neighboring countries.
The “Financial and Settlement Center for Support of Renewable Energy Sources”, which is a subordinate organization of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, in accordance with the agreement, concludes an agreement on the supply of electricity with OJSC “Rogun Hydroelectric Power Station”, — said in a statement the Ministry of Energy of Tajikistan.
The contract will have a duration of 20 years. It may subsequently be extended for another 10 years. The document states that the price of electricity supplied by the Rogun hydroelectric plant will be $0.034 per kilowatt-hour.
Kazakhstan will also have to pay for the transit of electricity to the Tajikistan-Kazakhstan border. From the second year of supply, indexation of the cost of electricity will be possible.
