Kenyan Chepngetich breaks women’s marathon world record in Chicago

The Kenyan Ruth Chepngetich signed this Sunday the new women’s world record in Marathon of Chicago with a time of 2h09:55. He pulverized the precedent, in the hands of Tigst Asséfawith a margin of almost two minutes.

Chepngetich had already won in Chicago in 2021 and 2022. The two previous times he came out very strong then he punctured. The third time was the charm and he did it in a big way. An indisputable superiority to fully enter the marathon history books.

“I am very proud of myself for this victory. I fought hard to have a world record and here it is, a new world record for Kenya.
