“This contract places Indra as a global leader in radio communications in the field of ATM (air traffic management), with almost 50% market share,” the company said.
In this sense, Indra plans to manufacture 46,000 new radio devices at its facilities in Overland Park (Kansas, United States), where it will transfer production of its “Park Air” radio system to the United States. In addition to development, the contract includes the production, testing and qualification of the devices for 10 years.
“Indra’s digital radio systems are equipped with IP technology to enable voice and data communication over a secure network (VoIP), which facilitates ground-to-air connection between pilots and controllers located at U.S. airports. In this way, Indra’s technology will contribute to strengthening the levels of safety, efficiency and sustainability of the country’s air traffic control systems,” he added.
The general manager of Indra’s ATM division, Javier Ruano, stressed that this contract represents “a boost” to the company’s growth strategy in the United States.
He highlighted that to win this contract, in which Indra competed with two other companies, the collaboration of its subsidiary in the United States with Indra’s radio center of excellence in the United Kingdom, “Park”, was “fundamental”. Air’.
