“We have already gone as far as possible in negotiations with the United States, and what we are sure of when we see the result is not that there is a desire to coexist on the part of the superpower, but that there is a powerful firmness in its aggressive and hostile policy towards the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (official name of the country), this can never change,” Kim said during a weapons demonstration in statements published Friday by the state agency KCNA.
Kim’s words, spoken in the Thursday inauguration of the ‘National Defense Development 2024’ exhibitioncome just two months before Trump returns to the White House, amid growing expectations that he will seek during his second term to resume dialogue with Pyongyang, which faltered after the Hanoi summit in 2019.
