Kim Jong Un threatens the United States and boasts of his military power

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said in a speech in Pyongyang that the failures of his negotiations with US President-elect Donald Trump during his previous term demonstrate that Washington has no “will to coexist” with its regime and that its hostile policy towards Pyongyang will never change.

“We have already gone as far as possible in negotiations with the United States, and what we are sure of when we see the result is not that there is a desire to coexist on the part of the superpower, but that there is a powerful firmness in its aggressive and hostile policy towards the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (official name of the country), this can never change,” Kim said during a weapons demonstration in statements published Friday by the state agency KCNA.

Kim’s words, spoken in the Thursday inauguration of the ‘National Defense Development 2024’ exhibitioncome just two months before Trump returns to the White House, amid growing expectations that he will seek during his second term to resume dialogue with Pyongyang, which faltered after the Hanoi summit in 2019.

“The doctrine that the United States is not hostile at all, which American politicians habitually continue to repeat, “It seems like a strange absurdity to people all over the world.”Kim went on to suggest that he was closing the door on a return to the negotiating table with Washington.

“The extreme ambition of the North American imperialists and their supporters erase our ideology and our system and completely wipe out our people has not changed at all and, in fact, in this century it is being recklessly encouraged to reach a stage of implementation,” the marshal added.

The North Korean leader described the current global panorama as a “real disaster,” denouncing that “international standards established and defended in the name of respect for national territories and the sovereignty of peoples. » are trampled “by the hegemonic powers.”

Kim assured that “today we are witnessing the most chaotic and violent world since the Second World War,” compared the increasingly strong alliances between the United States or Europe and Asia-Pacific countries like South Korea, Japan or Australia with the alliance of “fascists from Europe and of Asia” during the aforementioned conflict concluded in 1945 and asserted that “Never before has the Korean Peninsula faced such a dangerous and acute confrontation between the two warring parties. »

Visiting the weapons exhibition, Kim concluded that the capacity and speed of domestic weapons development “are enough to convince us that we have the capacity and security guarantee to proactively deal with both the various threats our enemies present to us today and the possible threats we will face in the future. »

During the exhibition, organized for the third consecutive year at the Three Revolutions Exhibition Center in Pyongyang, intercontinental or hypersonic ballistic missiles, the Chollima-1 space rocket with which North Korea launched its first spy satellite into orbit in 2023 or the 240-millimeter multiple rocket launchers that the regime transferred to Russia for use in Ukraine, as Seoul has denounced this week.

Over the past year, ties between Pyongyang and Moscow have strengthened significantly, resulting in large quantities of North Korean weapons being sent to Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. This also led to the signing last June of a strategic alliance treaty, on the basis of which North Korea would have sent 10,000 of its soldiers to the front to support the Kremlin troops.
