Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze will address the United Nations’ annual meeting in the United States next week, where he will express his readiness to sign a non-aggression agreement with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the Georgian television channel Formula reports.

Sukhum and Tskhinvali have been insisting on signing a non-use of force agreement for many years, but Tbilisi, not recognising the republic as a party to the conflict, insisted on signing an agreement with Moscow.

It should be noted that if the agreement comes into force, Tbilisi will set a precedent for the recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as subjects of international law.
