The judge of Koldo affairIsmael Moreno, cited as investigated on the partners of Víctor de Aldama -Ignacio Díaz Tapia, Luis Alberto Escolano, Javier Serrano, César Moreno García and María Piedad Losada-, linked to the conspiracy of masks and Covid tests in the airports of the Canary and Balearic Islands.
In a judgment to which LaSexta had access, the president of the Central Investigating Court number 2 of the National Court has summoned the five defendants for several days. November 25 and 26and in December he will make a declaration, on days 2 and 3, to the agents of the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard.
The anti-corruption prosecution requested these summons from the judge after the last UCO Report will reveal Koldo García’s close relationships with the presidents of the Canary and Balearic Islands at the time, Ángel Víctor Torres and Francina Armengol, currently Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory and President of the Congress of Deputies, respectively.
The UCO maintains that De Aldama and his partners took advantage of the Covid testtaking advantage of “the window of opportunity offered by De Aldama’s privileged relationships with the high levels” of José Luis Ábalos’ Ministry of Transport.
For this, they called on the company Fertinvest Consulting, with its partner Eurofins Megalab. In its report, the Civil Guard reported a conversation between Armengol and Koldo García in which he said goodbye to her with “okay darling, I’ll keep you informed” when he offered her to hire the De Aldama companies for Covid detection tests at airports in the Balearic Islands.
In another conversation about the PCRs, Koldo García told De Aldama that Angel Víctor Torres had indicated to him that he was interested in the PCRs, to which De Aldama responded: “it’s very important, he owes us a huge sum.”
In this regard, The Civil Guard detected three contractsdated December 18, 2020 and January 1 and February 1, 2021, which were awarded to De Aldama companies for PCR tests with a total value of 5.3 million euros.
The UCO finds it significant that Koldo García declared in one of the WhatsApp audio intervened that the minister was aware of the proposal made to Torres, “since it leaves no doubt that to influence other officials he would use his relationship with Ábalos.”
Koldo continued to press Torres in the following days, and on August 25, one of De Aldama’s partners, Ignacio Díaz Tapia, on behalf of Koldo himself, sent information about the Covid control project to passengers. When he appeared on June 10 before the Congressional Commission of Inquiry into the Koldo Affair, Torres claimed that as president he had never entered into a contract with a specific company and denied having received any calls from Koldo García or Minister Ábalos.
He also assured that he had no proof that he knew Díaz Tapia, the PCR testing entrepreneur, and explained that, although he could receive hundreds and thousands of calls, he should never “contract with any company”.
