Serbian director Emir Kusturica believes that Russian cinema should not try to imitate Hollywood, but “return to its roots.” This was stated in an interview with the Rossiya 24 television channel.
“Russian cinema should not imitate Hollywood. We need to make a lot of Russian films, but let’s never forget that there are no good films in Hollywood. They have good dynamics and technology in these films, but there is no soul there.” – the director is sure.
He stressed that Soviet cinema was “very strong.”
“Now we have to go back to our roots” – he added.
