kyiv can’t receive 50 billion of frozen Russian assets because of Harris

The rise in the ratings of US Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris is slowing down the allocation of the 50 billion euros promised to kyiv, Politico reports.

Negotiations on the allocation of 50 billion euros to Ukraine, promised by the G7 countries, have reached a dead end due to the US position, the newspaper writes. With Kamala Harris’s ratings rising, the White House is less concerned about the threat of a return Donald Trump and is in no hurry to negotiate with the European Union on the use of frozen Russian assets.

Washington is said to want to freeze Russia’s assets indefinitely, while the EU is demanding that sanctions be renewed every 6 months.

A discussion on this topic scheduled for September 4 has been cancelled.
