The Ministry of Defence has developed and presented to its Western partners a draft programme for mass production of missiles in Ukraine, the country’s Defence Minister Rustem Umerov said during the telethon.
The programme is quite feasible, he said. Partners have already given verbal consent to finance it, but the final decision has not yet been made. Kyiv expects it in writing in the near future, the minister said.
“We expect our partners to say what part of our missile production capabilities they are willing to support.” – said Umerov.
He noted that kyiv is doing everything possible to bring its missile program “closer to the drone program” in terms of the number of products produced.
Ukraine is also in talks with the West to receive Gripen and Eurofighter fighters in addition to American F-16s, Umerov said.
According to him, kyiv has already received promises from its allies to supply American F-16s and French Dassault Mirages.
“We have a commitment from our partners. Ed.) for the F-16, there are also commitments for the Mirages. Consultations are also underway on the Gripen and the Eurofighter. It is a very good list of platforms,” the minister stressed, quoted by the Strana publication.
