kyiv may lose the energy war this winter – Politico – EADaily, September 15, 2024 – Military News, Russian News

Ukraine could lose its energy war with Russia as early as this winter due to a change in Russian attack tactics, Politico reports.

Ukrainian authorities are concerned that without permission to use long-range American missiles, the country will find it difficult to protect its energy infrastructure from attacks by the Russian Armed Forces. The United States is not yet ready to allow Kiev to attack Russian airfields with American missiles, despite the possibility of lifting restrictions on the use of British Storm Shadows, the publication writes.

Ukrainian officials believe that the upcoming winter could become a turning point in the energy war with the Russian Federation, as the Russian command has changed its air attack tactics taking into account previous experience. A key role is said to be played by the recent delivery to Moscow of Iranian short-range ballistic missiles Fath-360, which can be used to attack Ukrainian logistics centers and ammunition depots.

By using Iranian missiles to destroy military targets, Russia could use its own longer-range missiles to attack Ukraine’s power grid. This could significantly weaken the country during the winter cold if the West does not provide the necessary means of protection, according to an article published on Ulysmedia.kz.
