Ukraine has excluded a section of the border with Belarus from the exclusion zone around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in order to ensure the protection and defence of the border, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry reports.

“The government agreed on a draft decree… on the exclusion of a section of the border with Belarus from the exclusion zone… The implementation of the law will allow the State Border Service of Ukraine to ensure proper protection and defence of the border between Ukraine and Belarus and compliance with its regime,” – the department said in a statement.

It should be noted that we are talking about a 50-meter strip along the state border between Ukraine and Belarus, which is located within the exclusion zone and the mandatory resettlement zone and is owned by the Chernobyl Radiation and Ecological Biosphere Reserve.
