Alerts activated in the event of heavy and very heavy showers and/or thunderstorms
La Palma activates the rain alert facing unfavorable weather conditions which will particularly affect Isla Bonita. The government of the Canary Islands has declared a rain alert on the island of La Palma from 3 a.m. this Monday, taking into account forecasts of heavy downpours and very strong and/or stormy type, with precipitation equal to or greater than 100 liters of water per square meter in 12 hours or 200 in 24 hours.
The Cabildo de La Palma has already activated the Peinpal and has taken preventive measures such as closing the PRLP13 and PR LP6 trails. Furthermore, he asked to maintain surveillance on the communication routes in anticipation of landslides or cuts due to runoff and/or falling trees as long as such a situation persists.
In the rest of the islands, the Government maintains the rain pre-alert situation declared on November 15 due to the forecast of rain showers. precipitation unevenly distributed throughout the archipelago. The most notable ones are expected on the western and southern slopes of the larger islands and could be persistent on the western islands.
Furthermore, the pre-warning for storms in all the Canary Islands also declared last Friday due to the possibility of recording this type of weather phenomena, usually accompanied by gusts of strong wind and precipitation.
Faced with this situation, the Government of the Canary Islands recommends that the population take extreme precautions, especially if they are outdoors and insists on respecting the self-protection advice established in these cases to avoid risks.
